NORTH AMERICA CYCLING ADVENTURES
There’s a simplicity to cycling. You start at A and ride your way to B, powered by nothing but your own legs
North America has plenty of options for both leisurely pedallers and hardcore asphalt-eaters. Cycling through your destination brings you closer to the land and its people than just about any other style of travel. The mobility of a bike gives you the chance to see well-known locales from a new perspective and opens up their more remote corners to deeper exploration.

NORTH AMERICA HAS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
When people think of North America, they think of the USA – a place you must visit at least once in your lifetime, but the continent has so much more to offer:
The US National Parks Service oversees hundreds of protected areas, including Yellowstone (the oldest) and Alaska’s Wrangell St-Elias (the biggest; larger than Switzerland). Further north, Canada has endless emptiness, home to wolf, bear and moose, much of which can only be accessed by floatplane.
Domestic flights are extensive and affordable, but for romance and views hire a car or a campervan, ride the Greyhound bus or take the train for a days-long trundle between cities. Some of the best journeys are offshore, too: the ferry journey through Alaska’s Inside Passage is a gold-rush history lesson and whale-watching extravaganza rolled into one.
You’d need months to scratch the surface of the whole continent, so instead focus on a big trip (coast to coast, Route 66, California’s Pacific Coast Highway) or a region (e.g. the Great Lakes or Vancouver and the Canadian West). North America may be all about big journeys, but don’t forget to stop and linger too.
With 30 years of adventure travel experience, I select operators who deliver the best possible holidays for my clients. I remain independent and have the flexibility to provide you with the best package to suit your specific needs and budget. I search the whole market to find the best deals for every aspect of your trip so that you don’t have to, providing honest and impartial advice.
When I request quotes for a trip like this, I ask the operator for locally owned accommodation and local guides where the trip allows. I also follow my Animal Welfare Policy on any wildlife experiences. Holidays that include flights include a payment to Sustainable Travel International, which is part of the holiday price, and I keep a record of each one. My Traveller’s Pledge and full approach are on my Responsible Travel page.
