Rail holidays are one of the easiest ways to make the journey feel like part of the trip rather than the bit you simply have to get through.
Settle into your seat and the world starts to unfold properly. Mountain passes, coastlines, forest, villages, wide open plains, city stations with a sense of history, and that lovely feeling of waking up somewhere new without the airport queues, baggage reclaim and stop-start frustration that can make a holiday feel hard work before it has even begun.
Some rail trips are the holiday. Others work brilliantly as part of a bigger itinerary. I can help with both. That might mean a classic journey such as Rovos Rail in South Africa or Rocky Mountaineer in Canada, scenic mountain railways through Switzerland, high-speed routes across Japan, or a memorable section of train travel folded into a wider adventure.
Rail also suits the kind of travel many clients are asking for now: better paced, more immersive, and less rushed. If that is part of the appeal for you, my article Slow Travel: The Rise of Leisure Rail Adventures Over Flying is a good place to start.

I help clients work out which rail journey actually suits them, because the right trip depends on far more than the train itself. Pace matters. Cabin or seat style matters. So does whether you want grand heritage glamour, huge scenery, day-after-day rail travel, or just one unforgettable stretch by train within a broader holiday.
That is where I save you time. I compare the options, sense-check what is worth it, and help shape a trip that feels smooth from the start rather than stitched together as an afterthought.
If you want inspiration, have a look at Great Rail Journeys From Around the World for some of the routes that make people fall in love with train travel in the first place.
Rail can also be a more responsible way to travel on the right route. Where that matters to you, I can help you build an itinerary with better pacing and lower-impact choices, and you can read more about how I approach this on my Responsible Travel page.
